Young drivers who live in rural areas are 37% more likely suffer serious injuries in a crash than those living in urban areas, according to new research. All young drivers are more likely to be injured in a crash – 30% of all accidents involve drivers aged from 16-29, despite this group accounting for just 18% of the population. However, the research has also revealed that rural-based young drivers are more than 60% more likely to be injured in an accident than older people living in rural areas. The report from Road Safety Analysis, blames the increased risk on the fact  [ Read More ]

After the snow that we had pretty much everywhere in the UK last year it seems that as we are approaching winter this year winter tyres are being taken a bit more seriously. They are already a legal requirement in the majority of northern Europe, below are some reasons why you may consider fitting a set to your car this winter. One of the most common misconceptions is that we don’t get enough snow in the UK to warrant the use of winter tyres. convertible

With this weekend set to be another scorcher now’s the time to head down to the Motorhouse and pick yourself up a convertible. The rising temperatures would usually see a rise in the price of convertibles, but according to British Car Auctions prices have stayed cool in recent weeks. “Despite the record temperatures and dry, sunny days in April, convertible values haven’t risen as sharply as market watchers expected. With many households still tightening their belts, potential buyers are being careful with their cash and that means there could be some great value soft-tops this summer.” explained Tim Naylor  [ Read More ]

Police

The news from the Department for Transport that the Police will have greater powers to hand out on the spot fines of up to £100 for drivers who are caught tailgating, under-cutting or cutting up other drivers has now had a little while to sink in. The Government argues the fines will be a good thing as they will improve road safety by shifting the focus from penalising motorists who make minor transgressions and honest mistakes to pursuing persistantly reckless and dangerous drivers. Transport Secretary Philip Hammond said there had to be a distinction between drivers who make occasional mistakes  [ Read More ]
